The Empowered Era: A Sunday Toast to Women Empowerment

The Empowerment Era was a dynamic and impactful 2023 Women's Empowerment Event that brought together influential women and over 150 female members of the DFW community for a day of insightful conversations, meaningful connections, and celebration of female empowerment and achievement.

The event was coordinated to provide a platform for women to share their experiences, connect with other like-minded individuals, and celebrate the progress of women in the community. The event highlighted the economic impact of female-owned businesses in the area by featuring 18 local female-owned business vendors and 5 female-founded sponsors.

The event featured panel discussions and breakout chats featuring local influential women from diverse backgrounds, discussing topics such as female leadership, wellness, challenges, and work-life balance. Attendees had the opportunity to network during the cocktail hour, build new relationships,  and celebrate the achievements of women in the community.

The Empowerment Era also provided an area dedicated to shopping and supporting local female-owned brands, including fashion, beauty, wellness, and more. The event was designed to empower, educate and connect women from different walks of life, providing a unique platform for them to learn, grow, and thrive in the community.

Ashlyn and her team ensured that the event's set design, marketing materials, and outreach were carefully curated to create an immersive and engaging experience for all attendees. The Empowerment Era was a resounding success, providing a platform for women to come together and celebrate the power of female empowerment in the community.

Apollo World: Entering Your Digital Era

The captivating event, "Entering Your Digital Era," took place in February 2023 at Habitat Commons. The event featured a distinguished panel of four experts who delved into the subject of building a successful career in the digital age. The event had an audience of over 45 attendees, and two full interactive segments coordinated by the XONK Creative and Apollo World Teams . Our well-structured panel discussion began with an introductory networking cocktail hour and free headshots, followed by a group discussion with the panelists and their areas of expertise. The panelists provided an overview of how the digital age has affected careers.

The central question for the discussion was "What are the key factors to consider when building a successful career in the digital age?" The panelists offered their perspectives, experiences, and examples of the challenges and obstacles they faced when building their careers in the digital age, along with their strategies for overcoming them. The audience was encouraged to participate by asking questions and sharing their comments, thus facilitating a dialogue between the panelists and the audience.

The event feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees sharing that was both valuable and engaging, and we were are in the works of making a series of events with a similar structure for the young professionals of DFW.

Nike Project Move: World of Movement

The first-ever Nike Project Move Cohort at The University of Texas was composed of ten individuals driven to inspire diverse physical activity in every corner of the forty acres. The students of Nike Project Move recognized that movement mattered -- from improving mental health to engaging with one’s community -- and their goal was to empower others on their journey to make sport a daily habit. Collaborating directly with Nike advisors and university experts, the cohort unmuted their passion through the World of Movement exhibition.

World of Movement, was an artistic installation designed from the student perspective, displaying movement’s powerful ability to transcend geographic and social barriers. From multitasking to protesting to fitness, the showcase manifests the challenges faced by the UT community in a unique drive-through viewing experience. This one-of-a-kind exhibit features a peek into otherworldly ecosystems that capture the essence of students’ multifaceted lives.

This immersive exhibition was just the first phase in the cohort’s spring campaign, and
there created more innovative experiences for students to participate in. World of Movement is a catalyst for inspiring individuals to redefine movement in their own world.

The Nike Project Move Cohort members are Rishab Vasudevan, Ashlyn Knox, Amanda
Daniels, Megan Fee, Abhishek Dasgupta, Saad Majeed, Sarah Clifford, Estreya Rivera,
Nikki Tran and Luis Gomez.
